Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has covered wars and natural disasters for nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of people living in these regions. Curry covered the conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry is a journalist anchorperson for television, reporter and anchorperson who was born in 1956. Her best-known role has been on Today is an National Broadcasting Co. morning news program that broadcasts daily. Curry was noted especially for her coverage of human rights issues in war-stricken countries and on natural disasters. Curry's mom is Japanese and her father was an US Navy Sargent. In the aftermath of World War II, her parents met during her father's service in Japan. Due to her father's military duty, the family travelled often. Curry went to High School in Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 at her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. In her youth she was exposed many kinds of cultures. She attended schools located in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. She finally graduated with honors from Ashland high school. Her career in broadcasting began with an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. at the age of 22 she became the first female journalist at that station. Then, she was an anchor/reporter for KGW in Portland Oregon. In Los Angeles, she became a reporter at KCBS TV within four years of making the move into the city. In her time with the station, she won the award of two Emmy Awards.
